Johnny G’s Guide To Winning At PokerStars New Jersey (NJ)

Starting soon, PokerStars will be operating in New Jersey! While NJ has allowed online poker within its’ borders for a few years now, only small poker sites and operations have established there. None have the name brand and money backing them as PokerStars will.

Now there are some caveats to mention. You must be physically located in New Jersey to play! You DO NOT have to live there, just be located there. I am guessing they will be using some geo tracking software to find you. Also, you will ONLY be playing against others in New Jersey, so the games will be small, but that could be a huge advantage to you.

They already have some big money tournament plans and we feel this is another step toward legalizing online poker across the United States.

Tips On Winning at No Limit Holdem at PokerStars New Jersey

1. Play conservative. Do not go all in with pocket jacks pre-flop. Jacks get you whacked. Remember that.

2. Pay attention. Playing online lets you do 8 things at once, but that is bad. Focus on how quick players call and fold. Auto fold is the dumbest thing to do. Once a guy has a hand you can tell as they are not folding instantly. It is those little things.

3. Manage your bankroll. Start small and play smart. There will be some sharks playing, so be careful. SNG and small cash games are a great place to start.

Hopefully the other states will follow in allowing a SKILLED game to be played. Sure it may be partly luck, but poker is definitely more skill that DFS, which I love too. Stay tuned for further poker updates. Also, check out our fantasy sports articles and DFS picks of the day.

Johnny Giovonni

Hi, my name is Johnny Giovonni. I am in the financial services industry and own my own business on the side. I work too much and golf too little. That is why I helped create this site, so I could at least have the dream of golfing everyday. Also, I am a huge numbers person and have researched many advanced gaming theories and other nerd stuff like the Rule of 72 and Benford's Law. When I am not working I am either golfing, watching sports, or researching statistics for my weekly and daily fantasy picks. I am under full belief there is an enormous advantage to be had with information when picking your lineups every week. I hope to bring that knowledge to this website. I look forward to writing and responding to your comments. Check out some of our course reviews, fantasy sports picks and as always, provide any feedback!
