John Daly won a tournament for the first time in a decade over the weekend.  Daly shot an even-par 72 to win the Beko Classic in Turkey by one stroke.

The 54 hole event held at Gloria Golf Club in Belek, Antalya, Turkey offered a first place prize of $8,000.  Before you start equating this to Daly hustling country club members, know that the tournament is sanctioned by the PGAs of Europe and the field included Darren Clarke.

“As professionals we try to build on confidence and any time you win anything it’s a confidence builder,” Daly said after the tournament.

Daly’s last victory came at the 2004 Buick Invitational.

Winning tournaments and tying knots

Thursday December 4, John Daly announced via Twitter that he was engaged to longtime girlfriend Anna Cladakis.  John and Anna met through his Hooters sponsorship.  Anna is a former promotions manager for the company.  They have been dating for the last 6-7 years.

This will be Daly’s fifth marriage.  They have yet to set a date.
