It has finally arrived! Soon States across America will be passing regulations allowing sports betting for all major sports. From NFL to NBA to NHL if you watch it, you will be able to soon bet on it. Leading the way will be States like New Jersey and Pennsylvania, as they already have law makers on the issue.
This is going to be a huge revenue generator for everyone. From major sports to the government to the schools, everyone is going to win from this. Unless you have a gambling problem…. but if that is the case you probably already found ways to bet on Bovada or at 5Dimes.
If it is anything like DFS, the role out will at first have a wave of eager bettors, followed by a bunch of people watching and waiting. Then the iron will strike hot as people see how legitimate and regulated it all can be. The State lotto’s will have to figure out how not to lose market share to sports gambling, but I am sure the States will find a way to keep their cut for purposes like that. Legalizing gambling is far overdue, but now the cards are in a row so to speak. Speaking of, how does the poker world feel about all of this…. as they have more skill involved than any of this and still can only play limited places. I am sure that will change in the next 5 years too, so you will have to wait to go all-in with those pocket jacks.
Instead of a $20 scratch off ticket, why not put 20 bucks on a 5 team NFL parlay for the week? Either way it is good entertainment, but is NOT a get rich quick scheme. Those people quickly give up and then the serious people will be left to analyze and research the stats as they try to gain an edge.
