Golfer Pulls Gun On Group Complaining About Slow Play

A Connecticut man was charged with threatening and breach of peace after flashing a gun on Stanley Golf Course in New Britain.

An early afternoon group of golfers became frustrated with the pace of play.  They decided to give the group ahead of them an unsolicited lesson.

“Words were exchanged about golf etiquette and playing through,” New Britain police Capt. Thomas Steck informed the New Britain Herald. “A man in the first group then went to his golf cart and retrieved a firearm.”

As the conversation became more heated, 22 year-old Alejandro Baeza placed the weapon in his waistband and rejoined the argument.  Baeza then lifted up his shirt to show the group that he had a gun.

The golfers notified the clubhouse, who then called police.

Baeza had a permit for the firearm, but it was seized along with the weapon during his arrest.

Saying this might get you shot at in Connecticut.

So will this make you think twice the next time you’re stuck behind a group of five clowns that drive to each others’ balls one at a time on their way to a five-hour round?

What could his excuse be for bringing a gun?  Are there dangerous predators that roam New England golf courses?  Significant Connecticut gang activity?

Was he going for the Aaron Hernandez of golf angle?

Chances are, if you’re packing your golf bag prior to a round and toss the Glock in, you’re not focusing on lowering handicap that day.
