Wow. Two weeks in a row Johnny G hits 6/6 golfers making the cut! Around 475 points this week was a solid lineup including picking the winner in Finau. Let us keep the momentum going into the Shell Houston Open.
JB Holmes is the defending champion who always seems to be lurking near the top of the leaderboard. I like him again this week depending on his price point. Keegan Bradley is another guy who plays great here, so keep an eye out for his salary as well. CHIII has some top 15 finishes here too in the last handful of years making him a value play if he is listed around 8k or so.
I also think some rookies will be looking to snag a victory in the tournament before The Masters, since the field is a little weaker than normal. Look for Kizzire or another young talent to be there this Sunday.
Also, do not look past Oosthuizen, even after a long week finishing 2nd in the Match Play, he can play with the best in the world. He is healthy and already has a Euro tour win this season. It would also not surprise me if he takes the week off before Augusta.
This course will give up some birdies, but it is setup somewhat similar to Augusta, with the close cut fringe areas around the fast greens.
2016 Shell Houston Open DraftKings Lineup
Golfer | Salary | Comments - Stats | |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Louis Oosthuizen | 10200 | Oosty is playing really well now. Losing to Day is nothing to be concerned about. More impressive was beating a red-hot DJ. Averaging 301 off the tee and 12th in SG: Tee-to-Green. We will take a long long at him for Augusta. |
2 | Charles Howell III | 8900 | Are we really spending $8900 on CHIII? He's made 12 of 13 cuts with 3 top 10's this year so far. He's made 6 of 8 cuts here and has 2 top 10's previously. Those PXG's are treating him right. |
3 | Charley Hoffman | 8400 | Hoff is a different golfer in the Lone Star state. He's made 9 of 10 cuts at GC of Houston. |
4 | Ryan Palmer | 8200 | Groan... It feels like it's almost time to get off the RP train, but his numbers still check out. Palmer has made 8 straight cuts. His length will be an asset as he's 8th in Driving Distance. 42nd in GIR, 40th in Birdie Average, and 22nd in Ball Striking. |
5 | Cameron Tringale | 8000 | Tringale at Houston is a candidate for the picture in the dictionary of "Horses for Courses". 5 of 5 cuts made with 2 top 5's and 3 top 10's. |
6 | Chad Campbell | 6300 | Sure he missed 3 straight cuts before finishing 20th at Bay Hill, but the solid finish at API along with going back to his home state could/should be momentum. He's made 6 of 7 cuts here with 2 top 10's, including a runner-up finish. |
