What a feel good story in Taylor winning last week. Heart of a champion there. Also a good showing for Lefty, who’s #1 goal is winning the fourth leg of the career grand slam, the US Open. If he keeps this level of play up, do not count him out at Oakmont this June. What a story that would be. Onto the Northern Trust, which is the last leg out west already.
Tough conditions at the Northern Trust Open last year led to not so good scores overall. This course can play tough and normally there are big names near the top of the leader board. Riviera is one of the better tracks on the tour year in and year out.
While not playing great last week, I still like Dustin Johnson to get in the winner’s circle again soon. He plays well here and is one of the best in the world. Also, I think Bubba may play well, but I would rather pick 3 Jack Almanac co-owner Chris Racic than Bubba Watson, just on principles alone.
Rory will be making his debut here but will be priced up there at the top. Not sure if you want to spend the salary on a 1st timer here, but it is Rory.
For a 2nd tier player I like Brian Harman this week. Some success here along with his potential to play well make him an interesting option. Sergio is also in the field, could be undervalued by some, and he also made a run last year before collapsing at the end. No jokes here please.
