Andres Gonzales was born in Olympia, Washington on May 16th of 1983. This mullet-sporting, handle bar mustache-toting, 6’2″ golfer is notoriously the best Mexican PGA golfer of the modern era… Or is he?

Andres went on record, with a laugh, as saying that he is only 1/16th Mexican and doesn’t even speak Spanish. His last name, however, was the source of confusion as Gonzales is usually attributed to individuals from Spanish cultures.  After shooting 5 under par in the first round of the Mayakoba Golf Classic in 2011, Gonzales found himself in a press conference with Mexican journalists, but to the media’s surprise, needed a translator to answer questions.  You can read the amusing story on Stephanie Wei’s site (she’s been a good friend of his since their teens).

Andres graduated from the University of Nevada – Las Vegas with a degree in Journalism. Not only can Andres perform on the green, but he can also give you an accurate and engaging article on how he outperformed his opponents.

Notable Winnings

The tour victory that really stands out in Andres’ career is the win he earned in the 2009 Saskatchewan Open playing on the competitive Canadian Tour.  This is the win that put him on the map and gave the media something to talk about.  Not only that, but the win secured him an international victory that not many golfers can claim they’ve achieved.

In 2015 alone, Gonzales has secured upwards of $643,894 in winnings and keeps on performing under the pressure. The PGA Tour 2015 World Gold Ranking places Andres Gonzales as the 229th best player in the world.

Andres went on from his 2009 win and secured two more notable victories in the Web.com tour. On April 8th, 2012 Andres took first place in the Soboba Golf Classic with a final score of -8. This final score put him ahead of fellow USA golfer Andrew Svoboda by 2 strokes.

Electrified and excited about his 2012 victory, Gonzales went on to win another Web.com tour in the Utah Championship. The victory took place on July 14th and ended with a final score of -21. This placed him 4 strokes ahead of the runner up, Adam Crawford from Australia.

Andres Gonzales is a stylish player with a huge future and his are improving every year.
