Johnny G’s Week 10 QB Picks – DraftKings NFL & FanDuel NFL

We’ve reached Week 10 of the NFL season.  We’ll take a look at some of the signal callers that are standing out when considering projection models and match-ups.  On DraftKings, there is a logjam of quarterbacks in the $5900-6400 range.  A total of nine QBs fall in this range (2nd through 10th most expensive), with only Patrick Mahomes priced higher.

Johnny G invites the NFL experts from Hammer DFS to share some of their research and insights to help you build your rosters and cross the money line in your DFS contests.

Cash Plays

Included in the glut of QBs discussed above is Cam Newton and I’m having a hard time getting off of him in my cash lines.  He’s made so many of them this season.  He hasn’t scored less than 18 DraftKings points.  His 342 rushing yards and 4 rushing TDs provide such a good floor.  The pass attempt volume in the Red Zone isn’t there, but when he does throw it, he’s completing better than 67%.  A healthy Greg Olsen isn’t hurting those numbers.  He’ll travel to Pittsburgh to face a defense ranked in the bottom third against opposing QBs.  The Steelers at home have the ability to put up a healthy point total, which should lead to increased possessions and increased fantasy points.

If we’re talking match-ups and solid floors, we have to talk Philip Rivers this week.  Rivers is $8200 on FanDuel and only $6000 on DraftKings.  He has at least 2 TDs in every game this season and only three interceptions.  Technically, he is on the road in Oakland facing the 2nd worst defense in the league, but if you watch Chargers games, I think they play 16 road games per season since they left San Diego.

GPP Plays

For the same price on FanDuel, you could grab consistent recent production from Carson Wentz.  Hell, for $200 more FD dollars, you could play FitzMagic who is reasonably priced with upside.  But, if you’re feeling froggy, Baker Mayfield has 2 TDs in three straight games and will face a soft defense that struggles to get pressure on the QB.  Atlanta clearly has a capable offense, so there should be a decent pace to this game.  Baker has thrown the ball at least 40 times in four of his last six games.  If he can do the same with a clean pocket, this game has a chance to shootout and collect some lower-owned fantasy points.  Low percentage play, but if your GPP lineup doesn’t make you at least a little nervous, you didn’t do it right.
