Johnny G’s QB Picks Week 4 – DraftKings & FanDuel NFL

We’ve reached Week 4 of the NFL season.  Choosing a Quarterback is a critical decision that lays the groundwork for the lineup.  It’s time to sort through the highs and lows of the young season and find the play-callers that will get us above the money line in our daily fantasy contests.

Johnny G invites the NFL experts from Hammer DFS to share some of their research and insights to help you build your rosters and cross the money line in your DFS contests.

GPP Plays

deshaun watson houston texans

Dabo Sweeney calls him the Michael Jordan of football and Deshaun Watson may be the most bang for your salary buck this week.  He makes his home debut as the Texans’ starter against a Titans defense that just gave up 373 passing yards and 4 TDs.  He’s completed nearly 65% of his passes as a starter, both road starts.  The real draw for Watson though are the yards on the ground.  Through two starts he has 13 rushes for 108 yards and a TD.  That significantly raises his floor.  Now he gets a softer D in a friendly environment potentially with the dangerous Will Fuller back in action.

The memo still hasn’t reached the Buffalo Bills players that they’re supposed to be tanking this season.  These guys are playing hard.  Tyrod Taylor‘s price had been dropping through the first 3 weeks, but he sees his first bump in salary as he faces the Atlanta Falcons.  Similar to the Watson analysis above, Tyrod gets us some bonus fantasy points on the ground.  He’s had 8 rushing attempts in each of his 3 games.  He’s averaging about 27 passing attempts per game and completing 67% of them.  That number is likely to go up with a game script that predicts the Bills playing from (way) behind.

Cash Plays

Aaron Rodgers Green Bay Packers

We want volume out of our daily fantasy rosters and that is what we get from Aaron Rodgers.  He’s had no less than 42 pass attempts and thrown for over 300 yards in each game.  The running game has largely been a disappointment for Green Bay so far and as long as it stays that way we have to throw A-Rodg in the cash game conversation.  Who am I kidding, he’s in the mix every single week.  The Packers have won 12 of the last 14 games against the Bears.  Despite the short week, it’s a great home matchup against 2 of the lower ranked corners in the league.

How about a cheaper, less obvious option?  Trevor Siemian has 6 passing and 1 rushing TD in his two previous home games.  This week he hosts a Raiders defense that got torched by Cousins for 365 yards, 3 TDs, and an 83% completion rate.  That’s helped the Raiders drop into the bottom 10 teams in points allowed to opposing QBs.  Siemian airs it out about 30-35 times per game and is completing 63% of his passes.  At $5300 on DraftKings, he could realistically get your cash lineup 4x value.
