Johnny G’s QB Picks Week 5 – DraftKings & FanDuel NFL

We take a look at quarterbacks in Week 5 after a wild previous week filled with upsets and big-name injuries.  The bye weeks officially begin, so the player pool as been reduced.  Set the tone for your daily fantasy week by taking the right signal caller.

Johnny G invites the NFL experts from Hammer DFS to share some of their research and insights to help you build your rosters and cross the money line in your DFS contests.

Cash Plays

Dak Prescott Dallas Cowboys

Aaron Rodgers nearly landed in the top, get your picture added, spot of the cash plays.  He’s certainly not a bad play, but what if you could get nearly the same production at a roughly 16-19% discount?  After 4 weeks, that’s basically what you’re getting with Dak Prescott.  On FanDuel scoring rounded down, Rodgers has given you 17, 19, 25, & 23 points.  Dak has produced 17, 17, 22, & 23 points.  FanDuel is also where you get the biggest discount.  Prescott is $1800 cheaper than A-Rodg and playing as a home favorite.

The Cowboys simply aren’t running the ball as much as we saw last year.  No one ran the ball more last season than Dallas, but through 4 weeks, the Cowboys are 21st in the league in run plays.  Dak is averaging nearly 36 pass attempts per game with 8 TDs.  With a high game total, that number may be surpassed this Sunday.  He’s added 89 yards on the ground and a rushing TD which raises his floor.  I’m having a hard time moving off Dak for my main cash lineup this week.

If you need more salary relief, go down and grab Tyrod Taylor.  He’s averaging a hair shy of 8 rushing attempts per game this season for a total of 118 yards (3.8 yards/attempt).  There’s not a huge amount of upside with the pick, but the rushes keep the floor high enough if you want to go cheap and upgrade elsewhere.  TT is completing over 65% of his passes and has only 1 INT on the season.

GPP Plays

Eli Manning New York Giants

A healthy Odell Beckham Jr has done wonders for Eli Manning.  Over the last two weeks, Eli is averaging 27.6 DraftKings points as he threw for 654 yards and 5 TDs.  He faces a Chargers defense giving up 34.25 DraftKings points to wide receivers and ranks in the bottom 3rd of the league against the pass.  Vegas is giving more than a field goal in favor of the Giants finally getting a win.  Without much of a running game, the fantasy points should come through the air.

Doug Pederson loves to play fast and loves to pass the ball.  I like Carson Wentz against an Arizona defense that takes care of business against poor teams, but gives up massive points to higher powered offenses.  The numbers look good for the Cardinals against San Francisco and Indianapolis.  Against Dallas and Detroit, that’s a different story.  In those two games, the Cards are averaging over 25 DK points to opposing QBs and an incredible 51 points to WRs.  This is only the 2nd home game of the season for the Eagles.  Wentz airs it out 36 times per game on average and adds 5 rushes per.
