Johnny G’s WR Picks Week 4 – DraftKings & FanDuel NFL

We’re continuing our positional breakdown for Week 4 of the NFL Season.  Wide Receiver may be the most important decision you make in your rosters.  Picking a wideout that gets shut down or doesn’t receive enough targets will kill a roster’s momentum and make cashing more difficult than we’d like it to be.

Johnny G invites the NFL experts from Hammer DFS to share some of their research and insights to help you build your rosters and cross the money line in your DFS contests.

Cash Plays

AJ Green Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati’s new Offensive Coordinator Bill Lazor had a revolutionary idea when he took over; get the ball into the hands of your best players.  What a concept, right?  It doesn’t hurt that A.J. Green called out everyone with black & orange on.  The result was 13 targets for AJ.  Now he gets a matchup against the Browns.  Expect more of the same this week.  His ownership will be huge, but rightfully so.

In Week 4 last year, Julio Jones caught 12 balls for 300 yards and a TD.  If you remember, he had been relatively quiet leading up to that breakout game.  He has been productive, but he’s yet to have a signature Julio game to this point.  He’s averaging just over 15 DraftKings points.  The Bills defense has overachieved in the first three games, but this is an offense that continually puts up 30+ points at home.  Julio has averaged over 23 DK points at home over the last 2+ seasons and this week you get a $500 price break.

GPP Plays

Travis Benjamin Los Angeles Chargers

Travis Benjamin is averaging 5 targets per game early in the season, just over half the volume Keenan Allen has seen.  What we like about Benjamin (besides his prom hair) is his targets are deep down the field.  He’s averaging 17.7 yards per reception.  The Chargers, at 0-3, have to view this as a must-win game and that means moving the football.  TB has double-digit FanDuel points in 2 of 3 games and now faces a secondary that broke down in the 2nd half last week and is flying all the way across the country.

Did you know Patrick Peterson has only allowed a total of 22 yards so far this season?  If PP attaches himself to Pierre Garcon as expected, that potentially leaves a bunch of targets for Marquise Goodwin.  He seems to have put two big dropped passes in the first two games behind him as he hauled in a 50 yard bomb last week.  The Niners seemed to realize they need to air it out when they’re behind and that bodes well for the speedster.  Goodwin is averaging just under 6 targets, but that number should bump up with Garcon neutralized.

Good luck in your NFL DFS contests this week!
