Here are Johnny G’s Home Run predictions for 8/29/17:
Chris: A couple of things seem certain: Chris Flexen will not go deep, he’s going to allow baserunners, and he’s going to give up some runs. There are more well-known Reds to pick, but I like Scott Schebler‘s recent numbers. He has multiple hits in 2 of his last 3. Over his last 7 games, he’s averaging a batted ball distance of 226 feet, up 23 feet from his season average. His hard contact rate is 45% (up 9%). His exit velocity is 93 mph (up 3 mph). He hits lower in the order than I prefer, but he stays relatively cheap and I’m looking for a low-owned dong from him today.
If you want a similar stat profile (I could almost copy and paste from above), but want a hitter higher in the lineup, take a look at Kole Calhoun. He’s been moved to the cleanup spot and it’s paid dividends for his power numbers. He’s averaging 243 feet distance, 42% hard contact, and 94 mph EVO.
