Depending on the fantasy football league you are in, defenses and special teams can make up a huge part of your scoring each week. Or they could not really matter… This position has the most different scoring models across all the leagues that I have come across. Each values it so differently it is VITAL to know your scoring system before drafting.
With that being said, my perfect strategy for winning the FFL is to pick defenses on a week by week basis. However, if everyone tries this in your league it will not work. So you have to know your competition.
Here we go. Onto the picks!
1. Seattle – The classic of the league. Expect them to play hungry after losing the SB last year. They got off to an average start last year, but do not let that fool you.
2. St. Louis – Young and talented, this Rams defense looks to make a playoff push. You better play some defense in this division and they look to be up to the task. Can they score enough points though…
3. Buffalo- Should be an interesting year with McCoy and a possible new QB playing. With Geno smith down (not fair btw) and the Pats without Brady for 4 games, the Bills should be able to get off to a good start. This time though, the defense will have to keep them there.
4. New York Jets – Seems like they always have a good defense, but are just not good at scoring touchdowns. With Geno just being knocked the hell out by some guy I have never heard of, it only puts more pressure on the D to get the job done.
5. Arizona – Great last year. Should be solid again. However, do not expect the same results, as putting up such great numbers is harder the 2nd year when everyone knows how good you are. Should still be a great D and ST though.
Good luck! Remember to check your scoring system first!
