Louis Oosthuizen will continue to swing Ping clubs after he signed a multi-year extension with the company.
A statement from John Solheim, Ping Chairman and CEO:
“Louis has a beautiful, fluid swing we’d all love to have; it is widely regarded as one of the best on tour.”
“Most important to his success, he’s remarkably consistent. Because of that, he has been among golf’s top players for several years and we’re proud to continue our long-standing relationship with someone who represents Ping so well across the world.”
The 32 year-old South African will wear Ping labeled clothing, use a Ping golf bag, and use Ping clubs and putters as part of the deal.
Oosty has 12 career worldwide wins, including 7 on the European PGA Tour and the 2010 Open Championship. He finished tied for 2nd place in the U.S. Open and the Open Championship this season. He will be teeing it up in the Tour Championship, the final event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. He also sits in 3rd place in the European Tour’s Race to Dubai.
After winning the Open in 2010, Oosty famously took his earnings and splurged on a John Deere tractor for his farm in South Africa. Incredible talent with a swing to die for, but would Oosty rather be riding his tractor back home on his farm? Is he one of those supremely talented athletes that doesn’t care for their sport, similar to Serena Williams or Jeff Kent?
Louis Oosthuizen currently stands as the #13 ranked golfer in the world according to the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).
