One of the better challenges you will find in NE Ohio, our Wednesday after-work league plays Seven Hills every year and it never disappoints. The golf course always seems to be in excellent shape. This year we teed off at 6:25 p.m. on the back nine due to the leagues being delayed a bit and the golf carts restricted to cart paths only.
Despite multiple days of rainy weather in Stark County, the greens were still fast. Their greens are some of the quickest I play year after year. What little I saw of them, the fairways were in good shape. This is a plus since it takes a good shot to hold the green.
There is plenty of trouble from the tee box. Mature trees, numerous water hazards, and out of bounds will make you wish you had fine tuned the driver more on the range. Spray the ball out here as I tend to do and you will be punching out all day. Rarely will you have a shot if you miss the fairway by a decent margin.
Tell me Seven Hills is your favorite golf course and I’ll compliment you for having good taste. Tell me it’s the best public course in the area and I would have a hard time picking one that’s better. It’s easily one of our favorites here at the 3 Jack Almanac.
Practice facilities include a driving range and putting green. The clubhouse has a full service bar and snack counter with reasonable prices. There’s also a fireplace, Golf Channel on the TVs, and plenty of tables to add up scores and settle bets.
