August kicks off with a full 15 game schedule, all starting in baseball prime time. There’s a wild mix of pitchers taking the bump today. We’ll have Carrasco vs. Sale at Fenway. Archer goes to Minute Maid Park to face Fiers. Scherzer is in Miami. Lester host the D-Backs.
There are plenty of gas cans, too though. Anibal Sanchez goes to Yankee Stadium. Homer Bailey travels to Pittsburgh. Pelfrey sees the Blue Jays come to town.
It’s setting up to be a potentially wild night.

Here are Johnny G’s Home Run predictions for 8/1/17
Alex: Max Scherzer has pitched well, there’s no doubt about it, but you know what he’s also done? Given up 4 HRs to lefties over his last 5 to go along with a .405 wOBA 45.5% hard hit and 48.5 fly ball. Christian Yelich has hit 5 HR in July 4 of which came against RHP. He also has a .250 ISO and a .375 wOBA. Oh and the kicker? He owns a .488 wOBA, .800 SLG and 2 HRs in 21 AB vs Scherzer.
Chris: This partly a BvP play because Matt Carpenter obviously sees the ball well out of Jimmy Nelson’s hand. He’s carrying a .476 career average against Nelson with 10 hits, 2 of them doubles and 2 home runs. Carp doesn’t have the power stroke going at the moment, but he’s bringing a 6 game hit streak into a great hitter’s park. File under: “he’s due”.
