My Sticks…….or Golf Equipment – J.Giovonni

Golf is an amazing game that can be played with a foursome on a July Sunday or by yourself on a cool October football weekend.  While most prefer the 1st choice, I ask all of you to at least try the other approach.  And walk the course too.

The pros all must walk it, but that is not why I recommend it.

With so many things going on, jobs, kids, wives, bills etc. it is important to keep things in perspective. Walking 4 hours by yourself forces you to do this. Nothing but you, the course, and your thoughts.

Nothing puts your mind at ease like a peaceful stroll for a few hours alone.  Look at the trees, the sky and hit some golf shots. Things are not as bad as they seem.

Anyway here are my damn clubs!

Club              Make                        Carry Yardage

Driver – TaylorMade RBZ 9.5 degree Neutral – 260 yards

3wood – TaylorMade RBZ – 230 yds

3 hybrid – Adams – 200 yds

4 iron – Callaway Diablo Edge – 190 yds

5 iron – ” ” – 180 yds

6 iron – ” ” – 170 yds

7 iron – ” ” – 160 yds

8 iron – ” ” – 152 yds

9 iron – ” ” – 144 yds

pw  ” ” –  130 yds

aw  – ” ” – 117 yds

gw – Nickent – 98 yds

sw 57 degree – Cleveland – 80 yds

putter – Ping O-blade

The Callaway Diablo Edge irons are meant for a high handicap player due to their forgiveness. I am a 6.8 handicap, so in reality I should play something with more workability. However, I do like that mishits go about 80% as far, so maybe I will keep them a while. They are bulky and terrible to look at, but they do work.

My driver is a few years old, but I am getting more and more used to it. It fits my current swing well.  I think driver technology allows you 3 – 4 years of the same club without losing much. There is not much difference between the RBZ and RBZ 2. j

Now, that does not mean a proper fitting will not help you. Hell, I need one.  With a matched swingweight, shaft length and flex, and loft and lie angle, it can really make a difference. But first we need a consistent swing. So I will first work on that.

Johnny Giovonni

Hi, my name is Johnny Giovonni. I am in the financial services industry and own my own business on the side. I work too much and golf too little. That is why I helped create this site, so I could at least have the dream of golfing everyday. Also, I am a huge numbers person and have researched many advanced gaming theories and other nerd stuff like the Rule of 72 and Benford's Law. When I am not working I am either golfing, watching sports, or researching statistics for my weekly and daily fantasy picks. I am under full belief there is an enormous advantage to be had with information when picking your lineups every week. I hope to bring that knowledge to this website. I look forward to writing and responding to your comments. Check out some of our course reviews, fantasy sports picks and as always, provide any feedback!
